Full Bleed Envelope Conversion
Envelope Template Sample
Full Bleed Envelopes can be converted from any of our 11”x17” papers. The price of envelope conversion (above) does not include printing. You must purchase 11x17 size paper corresponding to the quantity of envelopes you require.
NOTE: The process of converting envelopes (for orders under 10,000) may use as many as 2000 sheets for waste and makeready*. If you need an exact count be sure to order enough extra to cover makeready and waste requirements.
Orders of less than 20,000 have 15% waste.
Orders over 20,000 have up to 10% waste.
Supply an art file, including the bleed, of size (10”x4.675”). The finished #10 Envelope will be size 4.125”x9.5”. Please supply individual art files for the front and back.
Envelope FRONT, Graphics & Design
Copy should be kept away from the window area by at least 1/4" unless intended. Plus or minus 1/16" of an inch tolerance must be provided to allowed the following procedures:
- Die Cutting
- Folding
- Window Punch-out
Note: If the front and back colors are different, color may move over a fold ±1/16” resulting in a thin line of the front or back color on the front or back. If this is unacceptable, continue the color over the fold and onto the back.
Envelope BACK, Graphics & Design
Four folded panels create the image on the back of an envelope. Our prepress department will handle breaking your image into the four panels. All you need to do is supply a single image of the back.
The alignment of the back panels could vary by ±1/16”, piece to piece, and be considered acceptable (this is a worst case example) Keep the back panel alignment limitations in mind when designing the back.

Art requiring exact alignment (as above) of the envelope back panels is not recommended. In fact, getting the back panel graphics and or the flap graphics to align is nearly impossible. Envelope design and graphics should be planned around these tolerances.
Whenever a design does not conform to the guidelines, variations will be visually obvious.
*Makeready for full color envelope conversion
Makeready is a common printing and bindery term referring to the various tasks involved in preparing a printing press or finishing machine for production.
